Youth baseball tips

April 27, 2010

Baseball season is underway. Have you coaches started practices yet? Here’s a tip: You can NEVER have too many catchers. While you’re just getting your baseball season started, ask for volunteers to play the toughest position on the field; catcher. Tell your team that you realize it’s the toughest position on the field and there are only a few that can probably handle it.
Then, your top position players, possibly your shortstops and pitchers may see it as a challenge and volunteer to give it a try. You will be amazed at the difference it makes when you have someone behind the plate to take charge of a game. Also, the more catchers you have, the more flexibility you have with your line-ups. One more thing…make sure that your catcher ALWAYS wears a protective cup.
